Child & Teen Assessments

Black background with golden stars and dots resembling a starry night sky.

Finding an assessment for a higher masking or lower support needs child or teen can be challenging.  Many children will be missed as they mask neurodivergent traits during their assessment or the assessment tools used are not capturing non-traditional presentations of Autism or ADHD.  Our assessments are designed to identify all neurodivergent children, regardless of their presentation.

Better understand your child and the accommodations they need

Children thrive when parents and teachers understand their neuro-type and can make accommodations to support the way they communicate, connect, learn, and regulate emotions. Learning more about your child’s neuro-type can deepen your relationship with them; supporting a more harmonious and connected family dynamic. Parents are able to stay more regulated when they understand the reason for their child’s struggles and how to help them through the moment.

Comprehensive Psychological Testing

Comprehensive psychological testing is a deep dive into your child’s psychological differences, strengths, and support needs. This testing is completed by a licensed psychologist and includes a full battery of test measures to help rule in/out ADHD, Autism, and any other co-occurring diagnosis and differences (PDA, depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, social anxiety, etc). This evaluation is for you if you are looking to understand the complete picture of your child’s mental health and neutoype with a robust exploration of all possible diagnosis.

The process:

  • A clinical interview with parents, teachers, or other providers your child is working with (discussing your observations about your child, psychological/developmental history)

  • Multiple collateral measures completed by parents, teachers, caregivers and other important adults that help to capture your child’s unique presentation

  • In-person testing appointment(s) utilizing the MIGDAS-2 and/or ADOS-2, WISC-V, and MOXO. Other measures will be given as indicated by your child’s unique needs

  • Documentation/record review (assessor will review any previous school records, IEPs, previous testing)

  • After testing is completed, you will be invited back for a discussion of the results of the testing and you will be given a comprehensive report for your records

  • Testing always starts right away.  The testing process starts with the completion of forms, review of documents, and information gathered from collateral contacts.  The face-to-face meeting is usually scheduled within a couple of weeks.  You can expect the diagnostic outcome and report within a few days of the face-to-face meeting.

  • Screening for learning disorders can be done during our full evaluation.  This can be discussed prior to starting the testing process as often this kind of testing is done by a school psychologist in the academic setting to help facilitate IEPs/504s.
